Privacy Policy

terphunter is built to make cannabis lab data easier to use, not to turn your account into an ad profile. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

Last updated: March 18, 2026

Short version

We collect the information needed to run accounts, save your preferences, process billing, support TerpScan and alerts, and understand basic product usage.

When we process product, scan, or usage data to operate the service, we aim to do that without attaching billing data or direct personal identity wherever it is not required. Billing information stays in the billing lane, and product/data processing stays separate.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not run third-party display ads. We do not share your account information with dispensaries just because you browse their products on terphunter.

If you want us to update or delete account information, contact us through the contact page.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect information such as your username, email address, password hash, account role, and optional profile details like your name or state.

Product and account activity

We store information tied to how you use the product, including saved items, alerts, scan history, account notifications, and similar account-level preferences that make terphunter work across sessions and devices.

Usage and analytics data

We collect limited usage data such as page views, screen width, language, and campaign parameters when they are present in the URL. We use this to understand which parts of the product are useful and where things break down.

Photos and scan-related data

If you use TerpScan, we process the images and label data you provide so we can extract terpene and cannabinoid information, generate scan results, and support related features.

Contact and support submissions

If you send us a message, request an invite, or ask for help, we receive the information you submit, such as your name, email address, and message contents.

Billing data

If you subscribe, billing is handled through Stripe. We store subscription status and related identifiers needed to manage your access, but we do not store full payment card details ourselves. Billing data is not attached to ordinary product-processing workflows.

2. How we use information

  • To create and secure your account.
  • To save personal features like favorites, alerts, notifications, and scan history.
  • To run core tools such as TerpAtlas, TerpLab, TerpScan, and COA matching.
  • To process subscriptions, free trials, and related billing events.
  • To send operational emails such as verification links, password resets, and account-related notices.
  • To respond to support requests, contact submissions, and invite requests.
  • To understand product usage, improve reliability, and make better decisions about what to build next.

Where possible, internal processing for scans, product matching, analytics, and feature operation is performed on data that is not tied to billing information or direct personal identity. We only attach personal account information when it is necessary to provide a feature that is personal by design, such as saved items, alerts, notifications, account recovery, or subscription access.

3. What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not run a third-party ad network on the site.
  • We do not hand your account information to dispensaries because you looked at their listings.
  • We do not feed billing data into ordinary product, scan, or analytics processing.
  • We do not attach direct personal information to internal data processing unless the feature requires it.
  • We do not promise perfect accuracy for menu or lab data that originates with third parties.

4. Sharing with service providers

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the product. That can include infrastructure providers, email delivery providers, and Stripe for subscription billing. We share data with those providers only to the extent needed to run terphunter.

5. Cookies, local storage, and app storage

terphunter uses browser storage and app storage for things like authentication, theme, and basic session behavior. We may also use cookies where needed for the web experience. If you use the mobile app, some of this information is stored in the app environment instead of a traditional browser cookie jar.

6. Data retention

We keep account and product-usage data for as long as it is reasonably needed to operate the service, maintain account continuity, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. We may retain some records longer where required for security, fraud prevention, billing, or audit purposes.

7. Your choices

  • You can update parts of your profile from your account settings.
  • You can unsubscribe from paid access through the billing tools in your account.
  • You can contact us if you want to request deletion or correction of account information.
  • You can stop using optional features like TerpScan, alerts, or contact forms at any time.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect account information, but no internet service can promise absolute security. If you create an account, use a strong password and keep your login information private.

9. Children

terphunter is intended for adults who are legally permitted to view cannabis-related information in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly build the product for children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and may add additional notice inside the product when appropriate.

11. Contact

If you have privacy questions, data requests, or correction requests, use the contact page and include enough detail for us to understand what you need.
